I'd like to write a poem or prose so nice
The ones that ooze with good advice
The types full of wisdom and truth
The ones that can calm and soothe

Or maybe a verse full of wit
That'll make readers go "That's neat!"
But all I can come up with is this lousy thing
About the things I keep wishing

I should come to terms with it
I really can't write for shit
DAMMIT!

I was reading Nashville by Pat Booth at the farewell. It's a really good book. It totally makes up for the disappointment of Kentucky Rich. Kentucky Rich was really bad. Interesting plot but her writing can't carry it off well. There's too much conversation. Too much of the plot lies in the conversation. And the story is all too cliche for me. All melodramatic and happy ever after. It's like a soap opera.
Fortunately, there's this lovely poem at the end of the story. No, it wasn't written by the author(no surprises here) but by her friend.

Year ago
In some century past
One woman stepped forward
To take up the quest!
Of creating the outlines of our family crest
One man joined her
In this holy deed
Thus beginning the pages
Of our family creed
Two ribbons entwined
In this tapestry
Forming the pattern of our destiny
The fabric still unfolds
With each alteration
Its design particular
To each generation
Our family lives on
Through struggles and strife
A tribute to those
Who brought it
To life

Now, Nashville is good. And the theme isn't what makes it partial. I love horses, even more than country music but Kentucky Rich positively sucks. It's a waste of money. For Nashville, the storyline is good, the description is pretty good too. There's nice fluency and you can imagine the story well. And the way country music is potrayed is...honest. And I love it. I love the wonderful lyrics/poems found inside. It's the kind of country lyrics I love. If there's any flaw, it's that the main character, Savanna, has it all. Spirit, beauty, talent, courage and wealth. The perfection of Savanna is one of the flaws...Sounds comprehensible?
